| Waterton Park boasts world class hiking with incredible scenery and many opportunities to view wildlife. There are 255 km (191 miles) of trails in Waterton Lakes National Park. They range in difficulty from a short strolls to steep treks of several days duration. Trails in Waterton Park also lead to extensive trail systems in Montana's Glacier National Park and in British Columbia's Akamina-Kishenina Provincial Park. When visiting Waterton Lakes National Park, be sure to take in the many opportunities for bike-riding. Whether you bring your own bicycle, or rent a bike in town, you'resure to enjoy the many sights Waterton Park has to offer. Waterton Lakes has four designated bike trails: Akamina Pass Trail Snowshoe Trail Wishbone Trail Crandell Loop In addition to the trails, you can ride your bike to Cameron Lake, Red Rock Canyon, or just around the town site. |

Incredible Fishing Experiences are easily fulfilled in Waterton Park. A variety of fish flourish here, including Rainbow, Cutthroat, Bull, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Lake and Mountain Whitefish, as well as rare species of Deepwater Sculpin and Pygmy Whitefish.

Waterton Lakes National Park offers you glorious horseback riding opportunities. Enjoy a quiet ride through beautiful pastures, rolling hills, and amazing mountains. During these rides you will experience dazzling scenery! There are a few stables offering trail rides, including overnight rides.

To camp in ANY backcountry area, visitors MUST book a site and purchase a Wilderness pass from the Visitor Reception Centre. The maximum stay in the backcountry is 14 days with no more than 3 consecutive nights at any one campground. |

| Golf |

| The 18 hole course is challenging, fun, and reminds you of why you started to play the game. This beautiful course is located in Waterton National Park (2.5 hours south of Calgary) and plays right next to the Southern Alberta Rockies. Like most of the courses in the Rockies, the mountain scenery is often a "hazard" all its own. This is a must play if you are in Northern Montana or Southern Alberta. | ![]() |

| Cross Country Skiing | ||
Ski trails in Waterton Park are categorized as designated and non-designated. Designated trails are identified by trailhead signs describing the degree of difficulty and other trail information. Track setting is carried out for weekend skiing. Skiers traveling off designated trails are advised to voluntarily self-register their activity at the Warden Office. |

Waterton Lakes National Park is a winter wonderland! In the winter, the park is the perfect place to have your winter getaway. Waterton Park boasts more than 200 kilometers of hiking trails offering a serene, quiet snow shoe hike during the winter season. Be sure when hiking in the winter you follow the necessary precautions to ensure your safety. Due to the park's sparse population in the winter, animals will frequent the trails more often. it is important to make your presence known on the trails. The best way to do this is by making "human" noises (i.e. singing songs, clapping, and talking). |

| Geocaching | ||
Geocaching is a scavenger hunting activity enjoyed all over the world by fun-seeking explorers armed with GPS devices. Waterton Lakes Lodge can arrange a geocaching scavenger hunt and will hide and clean up the containers for your group. Geocaching can be enjoyed by small groups or large groups and by people of all ages and from all walks of life. |

| Wildlife Watching |

| Keep your eyes open and ears alert because you are more than likely going to see an abundance of wildlife throughout the park. Most commonly spotted are deer, Big Horn Sheep , elk, and black bears. To ensure your safety do not feed the wildlife and keep a safe distance when taking pictures. Though the animals seem tame, they still show aggressive territorial behaviors especially during mating season. Remember to respect their space. Animals that frequent the park include: Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Mule Deer, Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, Cougars, Coyotes, Foxes and Wolves.
