Travel to Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada Waterton Lakes National Park - This magnificent National Park was first created in 1895. In 1932, Waterton Lakes joined with Glacier National Park of Montana to become the Worlds' first International Peace Park. UNESCO declared the area a World Heritage Site in 1995. The park also maintains the distinction of having the first producing oil well in Western Canada. Waterton is 203 sq. miles or 525 sq. kilometers in size. Accommodation in the park includes hotels, motels, and lodges as well as several campgrounds: The Townsite Campground (238 sites) and the Crandell Mountain Campground (129 sites). Waterton Lakes National Park offers a wide variety of activities such as hiking, golfing, boating, cycling, and fishing, all of which provide visitors a breathtaking view of the mountainous area. The park is accessible year round and a National Park entrance fee will be collected starting the third Monday in May until September 30. Waterton Shoreline Cruise - Scenic 2 hour cruise along the shoreline of Waterton Lake that takes visitors across the international border into the US.
